About Patrik Washburn

"Above all, I'm a storyteller."

One of the first to be born into a world where a man can walk on the moon, I always had my head in the stars, my nose in a book, and my ears to the ground. I'm a huge pop/subculture junkie and my greatest desire is to create and tell stories through whatever media available: art, books, comics, music, film, television, animation, and live performance. I currently draw illustrations for kids and adults, design characters for all needs, write and direct animation, write about Japan (my adopted home), pop/subculture and art, teach art, language and culture, and sometimes I actually sleep.

However you came to this page, I hope you wander around a while and learn a little more about me. I'd also like to learn a little more about you, so please drop me a line at patrikwashburn@hotmail.com even if it's just to say hello. I'm big fan of "hello" and I'm not so fond of "goodbye".

Currently

At the moment I am illustrating for Disney and Warner Bros., writing and translating for the Official K-1 Home Page, organizing a second American Comics Exhibition, editing my pop-culture fanzine 'fandomain', teaching Cartooning and Art at the Lycée Franco-Japonais de Tokyo, putting together an anthology comic with American and Japanese creators, adding entries to my American Comic Sound Effect Dictionary, developing a webcomic (stay tuned!) and working on an original animated film. Also, I always have exhibitions or trade shows to gear up for. Check out my blog for those announcements. I'm always on the look for new projects, so feel free to contact me for creative work. If you'd like to see some of my work in person, the "Pato's Girls" series is on permanent display in Higashi Koenji at the Polar Beer White Beer bar.

When I'm not keeping myself busy creatively, I'm reading books and comics, watching tons of movies, shows, and animated fare, studying French and Na'vi, and taking way too many pictures of my Boston Terrier, Dixie.
